Huawei & HEC Collaborates for 3rd ICT Competition in Pakistan.Huawei, the world’s leading provider of ICT infrastructure and smart devices, has partnered with HEC to launch its third IT competition in Pakistan. Huawei also worked with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan to launch the Huawei Academy of Information and Networking (HINAA). This program offers the opportunity to promote advanced technology studies through R & D and adopt Huawei’s renowned university-business cooperation model.

Saif Chi, CEO of Huawei Pakistan, stressed the urgent need for ICT skills. Huawei will hold seminars and presentations at universities to raise students’ awareness of competition, he said. Pakistan also has unlimited potential their heart is young. With the support of HEC, we will be able to take advantage of youth talents in ICT, which will contribute to the development of the ICT industry in Pakistan.

ICT efficiency will help to improve the quality of ICT professionals in the future in Pakistan, while increasing national ICT competitiveness and supporting local students throughout Pakistan. During the second ICT competition in 2017, Pakistani students saw outstanding performance. More than 7,000 students from more than 30 universities participated in the ICT Skills Competition. More than 3,000 people participated in the preliminary round, 150 students participated in the regional finals, 50 of them were selected for the national final. Six major winners participated in the latest international competition in the Middle East in China. The final team finished second and qualified for the second final in the Middle East among 13 participating teams. Six of the finalists participated in the World Cup finals in China in May 2018 to represent the Middle East. Finalists were second and third in 23 teams. Three Pakistani students also won the admission award at the University of SUSTC in Shenzhen, China, for a six-month scholarship program.

Successful students of the 2017 ICT competition have received certificates from Huawei about HCNA, HCNP and HCIE levels with the continuous support of Huawei Pakistan. Secretary of State NUST Islamabad and UET Lahore were awarded the professional and expert certification of Huawei, one of the winning teams in last year’s competition.

Dr. Tariq Banuri, Chairman Higher Education Commission thanked Huawei for a long-term collaboration. He was of the view that ICT program should be replicated by other organizations in order to encourage more and more students to involve in informative competitions.

In 2018, the third ICT competition aims to encourage more students to enter the competition and develop their ICT skills. Huawei will focus on holding seminars, workshops and introductory courses this year in 14 HAINA races this month. Huawei will also visit 50 universities on the road. Initially, more than 10,000 accredited university students must register for online testing. 5,000 students will take the preliminary test, including 500 students in the e-learning test. The best 100 students will take laboratory tests. The six most competitive students will be selected for international competition to be held at Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China.

Mr. Yao Jing, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, acknowledged the youthful talent of Pakistan. Huawei and HEC said that “ICT competition is an excellent initiative to train students in the ever-growing world of information technology.” He highlighted the role of the Government in improving education and creating well-known names in the fields of informatics, health, the social sector, etc.

Winners of the competition not only receive certificates, prizes and prizes, but also the opportunity to travel to China and reach one of the world’s leading ICT companies. Huawei will award the winners an exclusive paid trip to the Shenzhen International Company headquarters and the opportunity to meet brand leadership.
